ABOUT

Kayla Groening

Kayla Groening is of Métis/Ukrainian-Canadian heritage and resides in High River, Alberta.

Growing up in rural Manitoba, she spent much of her childhood exploring the outdoors, reading, painting, drawing and daydreaming.

Following her love of nature, she pursued a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies at the University of Winnipeg. Upon graduating, she moved to Alberta to work in the environmental sector.

A generalist at heart, there is not a lot that doesn't pique her interest.  She works primarily in ink, fibre and words.  She enjoys the storytelling aspect of illustration and the tactile nature of spinning, weaving and sewing.  She is a voracious reader of non-fiction.  Known to dabble in many areas, she has recently intertwined herself with the worlds of oral storytelling and science communication.
